Glenfinnan Bridge repair

Bridge Restoration at Glenfinnan for Forestry and Land Scotland March 2025

We are pleased to have completed vital restoration work on a section of the Glenfinnan bridge, ensuring continued safe passage along the Cape Wrath Trail. Located on the eastern side of Loch Shiel, the bridge spans the River Callop, serving as an essential crossing for hikers and outdoor enthusiasts exploring this breath taking region.
Prior to our arrival, the southern section had been condemned, with the boardwalk removed for safety reasons. To restore functionality, we installed new steel beams to reinforce the structure and added an aluminium ladder for improved access. Alongside this critical repair, we also replaced substantial portions of larch decking and balustrade handrails, enhancing stability and durability.
Our work extended beyond the southern section, addressing key safety concerns at the north end of the bridge. Several sections of the boardwalk were refurbished to ensure the entire structure remains secure and resilient against the elements. Thoughtfully constructed using high-quality materials, the restored bridge not only enhances accessibility but blends seamlessly into the surrounding landscape.
This project, carried out in collaboration with Forestry and Land Scotland, reflects our commitment to preserving Scotland’s outdoor infrastructure while respecting the natural beauty of its environment. By ensuring the integrity of this crossing, we help maintain safe and reliable connections for adventurers traversing this iconic trail.
