Mar Lodge East Quoich River Path Upgrade

East Quoich River Path Upgrade, Mar Lodge. January 2025.

The Hand Build team have completed a vital path upgrade for the National Trust for Scotland at Mar Lodge, providing a resilient new access route along the Quoich River. This improved pathway takes a higher line to avoid the recurring issue of washouts that plagued the previous route, ensuring safer and more sustainable access for visitors.

The project covered a 2km section, incorporating a range of essential works, including resurfacing, cross drains, stone pitching, and revetment. Every aspect of the upgrade was carefully designed to enhance durability while maintaining the natural integrity of the landscape.

Given the remote location, all materials were expertly transported to the site via helicopter, minimizing environmental impact while ensuring efficiency in the construction process.

This upgraded path stands as a testament to thoughtful design and skilled craftsmanship, offering a dependable and scenic route for those exploring the beauty of Mar Lodge Estate.
