Torlundy Bridge replacement

Footbridge Replacement Near Torlundy for Forestry and Land Scotland Feb 2025

We’re proud to have completed the replacement of a 12-metre footbridge near Torlundy, enhancing accessibility for horses, mountain bikers, and pedestrians alike. Designed to integrate seamlessly with the surrounding landscape, this sturdy new crossing is built to support both recreational and land management needs.
The bridge structure consists of three robust steel beams, ensuring long-term durability and resilience. Complementing this solid foundation, the deck and handrails feature locally sourced larch, providing a natural aesthetic that blends beautifully with its Highland surroundings. The balustrade design offers additional safety and comfort for equestrians and cyclists, making their journey across the bridge smooth and secure.
Anchored on concrete foundations, the bridge is further reinforced with locally sourced stone and materials, expertly reveted to create a seamless transition between the structure and the existing path network. This thoughtful approach ensures the bridge remains in harmony with its environment, both functionally and visually.
This project was undertaken in collaboration with Forestry and Land Scotland, reinforcing a commitment to sustainable infrastructure that prioritises accessibility, safety, and environmental sensitivity. By using materials sourced from the local area and employing construction methods that respect the natural terrain, this bridge stands as a testament to responsible land stewardship.
